The wine:

Nestled on a hillside in the Russian River Valley and surrounded by a horse farm lies the Petite Abeille Vineyard. Farmed and vinted by Deb Mayo, the small four-cloned Pinot Noir block produces a sensually complex yet elegant wine. Brilliant garnet in color, this fresh, intense, and vibrant wine delivers a silky mouth feel ripe with a melange of bright red cherry, rose hips, and spice.

vintner’s notes:

The grapes were hand-picked in the early morning, de-stemmed and placed into small fermenters. Caps were punched down three times daily during a two-week fermentation. The wine was then pressed into Rousseau French oak barrels for aging before bottling, 30% of which were new.

about the label:

The name itself translates to ‘little bee.’ Little, moreover ‘petite’ for the size of the vineyard -- bee or ‘abeille’ (Fr.) for the Hebrew origin of the name ‘Deborah.’ With inspiration from well-known artist Joseph Albers, designer Glenn Randle created and assembled the elements for both front and back labels. The image, entitled “Bumble Bee” was painted by UK artist Be Van der Heide whose body of work consists of unique figurative / abstract paintings and drawings.
